A famous poem from the Tang Dynasty claims that a silkworm spins all its silk until its death ans a candlle will not stop its tears until it is fully burnt.
This reference echoes the short, but intense, life span of the silkworm who creates it's rare material in a briljant flash of activity. Then it dies, leaving behind the makings for China's sensual, mysterious and coveted sil cloth.
